PLATINUM - IZUMO TAKEAMI "TORAFU"

A unique combination of traditional craft with modern pen manufacture, the Platinum Izumo Bamboo Weaving Yokoajiro #10 Torafu is available with your choice of 18k solid gold nib.

The Feature of this product is its elabortate main Shaft Which is woven by traditional craftsmen. Bamboos strips are finished by means of a process of "Oil Removal" (Abura-nuki) to enhance durability and add surface luster, "Rough Splitting" (Arawari) to cut each strip into an optimum size, folloed by "Width Adjustment" (Habatori) to align the widths. Finally the strips are dyed using a unique formula.

As with any pen you purchase from us, the Yokoajiro #10 Torafu qualifies for our complimentary nib set-up and optimization services. Platinum's 18k solid gold nibs also provide an excellent starting point for many of our nib customizations.

The term Torafu is derived from torafudake, tiger-spotted bamboo, and each pen has been individually hand-crafted utilizing traditional techniques. Bamboo is cut, dyed, hand-applied to the cap and barrel, and then finished with a layer of natural urushi lacquer.

Each Bamboo Weaving pen ships in a special paulownia soft wood presentation box and includes a pen kimono and complimentary bottle of ink. Each bamboo rod that is braided on the shaft is approximately 2mm in width and 0.2mm in thickness, and 36 of the each fountain Pen.

"Izumo" is a place where Japanese gods annually gather and it is still worshiped today since ancient times. It is also recognised for its production of Japanese paper "Washi" and it still remains as one of the places heavily engaged in writing tradition. In Japanese, "Izumo" is written with Japanese characters that expresses clouds rising up towards the sky. The "Izumo" brand derived from the founder Shunichi Nakata, who was born in Shimane Prefecture and a place surrounded by majestic nature and holy history. The supreme brand was established with the concept of clouds rising into the sky. The "Izumo" brand is now certified by the city of Izumo, Shimane Prefecture as it serves high quality by each craftmen involved in its production.
